Album Notes

elaine k has made us wait far too long for this one. \'yeah, really\' and \'as is\' were superb releases from this contemporary singer songwriter based in NYC who hails from Ireland. She\'s been compared to artists like Fiona Apple, Tracy Chapman and Ani DiFranco but never without caveats. Go ahead, pop the cd in your player or the mp3s on your ipod because it will make no difference, the outcome will be the same. Flawless. I\'m not kidding. I don\'t mean flawless like there\'s not one wrong note in there, I mean flawless like nothing is ever out of place and yet everything is surprising and disarming at the same time. bare bones is a journey that takes you on an emotional journey that follows not just the ups and downs of love and life but everything in between. The embarrassing; (I Hate You Too \"I\'m fully aware that you hate me\"); the sincere (How Does It Feel \"I wish I could make you take a polygraph\"); the tortured (Within You \"all I ever wanted lay within you - and there go you\"); the fresh (Sex \"I just got laid so now my dry spell has been saved\"); the raw (Already Dead \"I have this unnerving desire to hurt you) and the regretful (I\'m Sorry \"By now you think I had a plan just to destroy you\"). Just when you feel like the love song\'s been done too many times over, elaine k comes flying to the rescue. But the beauty of it is you don\'t feel manipulated. This is not an artist molded and polished by the industry as we\'ve seen happen to so many - this is an artist who missed the boat and so instead swam along behind doing her own stroke. The difference is beautiful. I challenge you to listen to this artist and not be moved. bare bones won\'t speak to you - it will resonate with you. Remember those days?.

Someone sent me this album for Christmas & we've been blown away. LOVE it. Elaine K= an amazing voice - I could listen to that album for hours on end. Everyone in our house has a favourite track but my own is the first track, I Hate You Too which is clever, ear catching, oddly shocking (really really makes you interested in listening to all the lyrics) and really gets into your head. Truly, a singing poet. I love every one of the songs and there isn't a dud one in the album. Definitely an album that I will be reccomending to my buds.
