Album Notes

One of Those Days (Self-released)
By Michael Roberts, Westword Magazine
Published: Thursday, May 12, 2005

Considering the mob of generic singer-songwriters currently operating in these parts, a performer can stand out only if she or he has something to offer beyond an excess of sensitivity. Fortunately, Rogers does. Her voice is flavored by a Dallas upbringing, and that hint of twang, along with a pleasantly sassy musical personality, boosts her Denver debut.

Two of the six tracks here are covers, yet the unusual arrangements applied to the Verve's "Drugs Don't Work" and Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" prevent these cautious choices from proving fatal. Besides, the title cut, the jaunty "Five & Dime" and "Texas Teardrops" demonstrate that she won't need to use the familiar-material crutch much longer.
