TOTAL SATISFACTION
Presented here is a variety of Halim El-Dabh's compositions for solo instruments, vocal and chamber music plus his pioneering examples in electronic music. They range from ocassionally performed pieces to music heard across the world. Born in Egypt in 1921 El-Dabh has researched extensively and retains a large collection of ethnomusicological field recordings. His composition works reflect the ancient cultures he has interacted with yet bring to life new sounds and new beginnings in the contemporary classical world.
Presented here are examples of El-Dabh's use of primeval and ancient vocal sounds
in utterance, oratory, and melody combined with unique vocal percussive techniques
and electronic-acoustic treatment.
El-Dabh's compositions span 77 years and covers the gamet from the traditional to
the profound classical toward the challenges of the avant-gard and daring
cyberexploration of sound and sonic vibrations.
