Album Notes

From the heart of Chicago, the city that works, comes The Eldorado Lounge. Their debut album, Welcome To The Eldorado Lounge, is an inspired first effort of original American songs produced to open your ears and move your feet.

The self-indulgences of sad-story lyrics, plaintive melodies and show-gazer rock is crushed under foot here as The Eldorado Lounge punches the clock on 12 tracks straight from the real world.

Songwriter and vocalist Mike Greitzer is backed by a tight rhythm section headed by Scott Tyrcha, whose drum line and back vocals kick these songs into higher gears. Veteran bassist Lee Ellis adds pro backbone to each mix and lead guitarist Aaron Zimmerman completes the line-up with a blend of Les Paul fluency and fierceness.

Each song weaves a tale of urban perspective with the swing of a heavyweight. The band handles song styles changes like four players suited to turn some heads in 2007 and beyond. This is good old-school work from good guys that know something about it.

Welcome To The Eldorado Lounge. A place to think, to drink, and to rock and roll.

brother take care, brother take hold

'cause the devil is there for your body and soul

learn how to do everything you've been told

learn how to fly, learn to rock and roll

passing that sign, bearing that load

learn how to die young, learn how to grow old

there's American high, there's American low

you learn to walk your American Road

-American Road, Welcome To The Eldorado Lounge

Strong stories, cool grooves

First of all, its nice to see a band weave a story or two out of their rock songs that don't appear to come from high school. The Eldorado Lounge takes this stuff seriously and deliver their tunes with strong rhythms, driven guitar breaks and lyrics that beg for liner notes. This is not a perfect album, with production values left somewhat wanting, but in a way, this adds a certain charm to the project. All in all, a damn good start for a unique roots rock band.

Tap into the enduring appeal of contemorary adult soft rock

The Eldorado Lounge tap into the enduring appeal of contemporary adult soft rock on their debut album, Welcome To The Eldorado Lounge. Rhythmic acoustic strumming and sweet leads intertwine on “You Are What You Play,” compensating for lackluster lyrics. “ Eights And Nines” is a mellow pop number that saunters along with its heartfelt reminisces, while “Under The El Tracks” is gentle ballad that faintly echoes ’80s metal ballads. Songs that beg to be blared from your car stereo
author: Gary Schwind

This album begins with a song called, I GO DRIVING. What's so great about this song is that the guitar just begs to be blared from a car (or pickup) stereo on an open road, or even a not-so-open road if you live in southern California. The Eldorado Lounge is a tight band. The guitars and the rhythm section blend perfectly, with no one overpowering the others. The Eldorado Lounge is the kind of band you want to see in a dark club or bar. If you did see these guys in a dark bar or club, I have no doubt that you would want to move around. From the jam sound of, YOU ARE WHAT YOU PLAY, and EIGHTS AND NINES, to the rootsy sounds of, THE ELDORADO, the band works a solid groove. Now, I know I say this a lot, but this is another great example of a Midwestern band. I grew up in Ohio, so I saw a lot of them. This is just one of those bands that would get you to round up your friends and see them at every opportunity. I have to imagine that a night with friends and The Eldorado Lounge would be a very good thing. The perfect example of their Midwestern sound is, AMERICAN ROAD. This song is equal parts roots and classic rock and it is simply the kind of gritty rock song I expect from bands that hail from middle America. Welcome to the Eldorado Lounge is a solid album with honest rock songs. All the songs are worthy of being blared from your car stereo. And if you see that The Eldorado Lounge is playing near you sometime soon, go check them out and you might become a regular.
