Album Notes
“On the piano and musical continuum, you couldn't get much farther away from boogie woogie and stride than Evgeny Lebedev” – www.jazz.com.
Billboard award winner and laureate of numerous jazz contests, Evgeny Lebedev quickly established himself as one of the most promising young pianists in today’s jazz scene. For such a small career Evgeny already performed and recorded with luminaries like Jack De Johnette, Marcus Miller, Terri Lyne Carrington, David Sanchez, David Fiuczynski and participated in prestigious festivals, including North Sea Jazz Festival, Lionel Hamplton Jazz Festival, Tanglewood Jazz Festival. Evgeny appears on more than 10 CD’s and released two albums under his own name, that were highly marked by critics in Japan, USA and Russia.

“Evgeny Lebedev’s World Trio” is a collaboration of three musicians from different parts of the world, with absolutely different cultural and musical backgrounds. Featuring Terri Lyne Carrington on drums and Haggai Cohen Milo on Bass.
Every participant of the trio absorbed musical traditions of his own country and added them to the sound of the trio, using jazz idioms, but not regard themselves as a jazz or folk ensemble. Program of the trio is based on music mostly written by pianist Evgeny Lebedev whose musical background consist of European classical traditions, middle-eastern folk music and Jazz. Evgeny played and recorded with many well known musicians like: Marcus Miller, David Sanchez, Jack DeJohnette, Terri Lyne Carrington, Dave Fiuczynski, Joe lovano and others. Evgeny is the second prizewinner and silver medal holder of the 1st Moscow International Competition of Jazz Performers (piano). He appears on more than 10 CD’s and released two albums under his own name, that were highly marked by critics in Japan, USA and Russia. During his time at Berklee College, Evgeny received Piano Award, and prestigious Billboard Award.
“Tinges of Eastern Europe are obvious in his playing at times, but so is Keith Jarrett”. jazz.com
Drummer, composer, producer and clinician. Terri Lyne Carrington, has extensive touring career of over 20 years with luminaries like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Al Jarreau, Stan Getz, David Sanborn, Joe Sample, Cassandra Wilson, Clark Terry, Dianne Reeves and more, she recently returned to her hometown where she was appointed professor at her alma mater, Berklee College of Music.
Terri Lyne also received an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music in 2003. She has played on many recordings throughout the 80's and 90's thru today, including her own Grammy nominated album “Real Life Story”. Notable examples of her work include Herbie Hancock's Grammy winning CD "Gershwin's World" where she played alongside Joni Mitchell and Stevie Wonder. She has toured with each of Mr. Hancock's musical configurations (from electric to acoustic) over the last 10 years and is featured on his "Future2Future" DVD.
Bassist and composer Haggai Cohen Milo is one of the most “on demand” young bass players of New England’s Jazz Scene. Native of Israel, he combines in his playing elements of jazz with Jewish and middle-eastern folk music. He is a leader of successful band, called “Secret Music Project” which plays New Israeli Folk Music.

Good Stuff Here
I bought Evgeny's other cd's from this site and each is better then the one before. " From East to West" is just plane good music. The melodies he writes sound like vocals. His playing, and the rest of the trio will leave you wanting for nothing. To me, this is the kind of music HI End Audio was made for. "Fairy Tale" starts you off light and melodic, but the solo's really drive this tune. But just take my word for it. If you love jazz, "From East to West" is for you.
