Brace yourself . . . . Electrick Cirkus has arrived; a delicious fusion of hook laden rock and powerpop sensibilities. With intelligent lyrics that range from tongue n’ cheek social commentary, to the emotional tornado of love and relationships, nothing is left out of the musical kaleidoscope entitled “Under The Big Top”. Take modern rock, 80’s, and 90’s rock, and throw it into a blender that spits out driving drums, hooky guitar riffs, lush background vocals and bona fide “play it again” choruses; and you get Electrick Cirkus. From the hedonistic anthem of “Party Like a Kennedy” to the angst filled “Casualty Of Love”, the Cirkus take you on a non-stop carnival ride for the auditory senses. The satiristic cautionary tale of “Holly Would” gives a nice acoustic groove, while the stripper polesque “Voluptuass” is all sex and rock n’ roll. These tunes were meant to be cranked up, with the windows down so all can imbibe the clever insanity. It’s rare and refreshing to find a band that can deliver an intelligent, stellar, album that’s still what rock n’ roll is all about . . . .a good time.
