Album Notes

In the early 90s Todd Duane and Lale Larson performed a series of highly popular and virtuoso gigs throughout Europe as well as recording several instrumentals together, including 'Schizoid' (featured on Guitar on the Edge No. 4) and 'Double Delight'. After years of planning the time was finally right for Todd and Lale, together with ace drummer Peter Wildoer (Darkane, Time Requiem) to combine forces and record a CD.

The recording Electric Cartoon Music From Hell sounds like nothing you have ever heard before. This trio plays a mixture of instrumental rock, fusion, thrash metal and jazz. But most of all, this album will remind you of all those old ´Looney Tune` cartoons you saw as a kid. Enjoy these 38 minutes of pure entertainment.

Prepare yourself for a force 10, unrestrained and unstoppable hurricane of musical excess and virtuosity. E-250 is here!

Electrocution 250 - Electric Cartoon Music From Hell
author: Mikolaj Furmankiewicz
The second CD in LNR's catalogue is a project of three superb instrumentalists. Todd Duane is an American guitarist and bassist of Touched, but he has also three solo CDs on his account ("Eccentricity", "Omipresent", "Todd Duane"). He has been learning people to play the guitar for over twenty years in such schools like The American Institute of Music (Vienna), Guitar Institute of Technology (California) and Music Tech (Minneapolis). Lale Larson is a Swedish keyboardist, mostly famous for Karmakanic, but also being associated with Ominox, a project Seven Deadly Pieces (a combination of thrash metal and chamber music) and, obviously, with his solo album "State of Mind", haha. His compatriot, Peter Wildoer is most popular musician with the metal listeners. You must know his name, if you listen to such bands like Darkane or Time Requiem. Lale and Todd played series of European gigs at the beginning of the nineties. They also recorded a few demos with virtuosic music. Former ideas and a will to release them were revived seven years later. The instrumentalists have always been fascinated by soundtracks to cartoons, especially by such composers like Scott Bradley and Carl Stalling. He decided to force in their talents into never-heard project so far! What was worked out? Without hesitation, it's progressive cartoon death metal!!! I have never listened to such a music! Precision, mastery, virtuosity, singularity, fusion, progression, funk a bit and madness! I will not believe that Todd Duane isn't Ron Thal's brother unless I get their DNA samples, haha! Being in the middle of the listening, we can't be bored, complained about something, reproach musicians for something or be tired. We can only be delighted with such a freak. The combination of jazz, fusion with death metal and thrashy gambits make Electrocution 250 a royal avantgarde! That CD is among the most original albums out of my collection. It is extreme music on one hand, but also melodious and catchy on the other one. Even best contemporary death metal bands wouldn't be capable of doing such a diamond! The blend of cartoon music with death metal sound evokes a chain reaction in our mind, haha. You can read in the booklet that Electrocution 250 is "unrestrained and unstoppable hurricane of musical excess and virtuosity" and it perfectly renders the contests. My Dear Teddy Bears, welcome to death metal "Looney Tunes", haha. The play will be exquisite! Guaranteed!

This album is nothing short of amazing. The musicianship is top shelf. I love the fact that this band is actually playing metal with their quirky brand of music. The music, besides being beyond talented is hilarious. Peter Wildoer I already had been aquainted with through his other band Darkane. So I knew I was in for some stellar drumming. I'm very impressed with the 3 musicians on this album. I'm also glad they included solos for each of their instruments. All I can really say is this is one of the snazziest albums out there and I'm floored. I hope they return soon with another album.

"Let's go crazy!" is the record's idiom. To cram frenetic riff-a-ripping, madful march and righteous boogie into one track and call it "Fletcher The Mouse" takes some schizophrenia - or three of the most skilful fusioneers on the scene having watched some ol' animation series and re-telling the experience at 250. Beats per minute, that is. Guitarist Todd Duane, keyboardist Lale Larson and drummer Peter Wildoer sure had a lotta fun recording this extravaganza, and even though each of three solo workouts may pull knots on the nerves, the sheer exuberance and excitement gets through to make the most-respected bow-tie go pogo. Running the style gamut from the '20s to 21st century and from ragtime through raga to reggae, you-name-it-they-play-it, the trio cook a tasty mash to laugh over, the title "Ridiculosous" putting the wire straight to catch onto. Get burned and cheer up!
