The genius behind the seductive elecrto-acoustic sound organism that is Electron
author: John Alfred Longlott (composer)The Elegant Tripp-igital Musical Eden The genius behind the seductive elecrto-acoustic sound organism that is Electron Love Theory is a man named Jeff Leisawitz, a serious force to be reckoned with on many a storm front of artistic creation. A song writer, performer, producer, and engineer/mixer of sequences, beats, and sound events Leisawitz is in possession of creative gifts that far exceed many of todays “top artists”. It’s rare that an artist of Leisawitz’s diverse musical comprehension will achieve the synthesis of his/her passion and playing and then precisely focus it into an ambient morsel that’s not only delicious to the ear, but has mass appeal. Electron Love Theory - Colors of the Galaxy offers this, and more! From beats as snappin’ as chilled, fresh celery to sensuous grooves as pleasing and warm as a cup of cocao on a bitter Winter’s day, the infectious pulse of these tracks will have you entranced from track 1 to track 13. If the bass grooves and clever sequences don’t make you a “slave to the rhythm” the Pumfin-PAPP of Moses Gershbein’s “Live Drums” will! ‘Gershbein fires out his best Steve Gadd-meets C.J. Bolland electro-funk stylizations for a record that’s Steely Dan –ripe and elegantly “tripp-igital”. He lays into Leisawitz’s groove with the whippy, relaxed precision of a master fly fisherman. Leisawitz performs masterfully on the acoustic guitar in ‘Your Love Is Bringing Me Down’ and ‘Come A Little Closer’, the latter of which is a bright expression of life-joy that radiates a soothing sunshiny samba that will have you looking into buying a convertible when you’ve finished listening to it. Electronic & acoustic sounds are married with effortless precision on this recording. The songs are dreamy and catchy with a confidence that gives attention to tenderness. The songs channel the dreamings of young lovers, the yearnings of the lovelorn and the awe of a child viewing the stars for the first time. Perhaps Leisawitz’s greatest gift is that he’s able to re-humanize electronic music with the kind of masterful ease that creates a musical Eden again and again for the listener. The Electron Love Theory lyric speaks in a full, clear magnificent voice about yearning, celebrating the ability to love with reckless abandon, the inner spiritual worlds of the creative existentialist, and the passions of those lonesome seekers of love’s glory. Passion, torment, ecstacy, inner peace, and soul searching – mystery and the damp night-streets of cities pregnant with human desire, and time distorted by moonlight. From the opaque Into The Moonlight: “Time stops in the middle of the day Theres a blind spot in the middle of my prayer. Are you out there? And I love and then I cry, and then I breathe and then I die and then I sleep, and then I rise” to the almost dharmic Change Direction: “Take me where the apples grow in the fields of knowing. Take me wherethe fires flow from broken shadows.” No artist marries the intimate and erotic with the compassionate and the sacred with the pinpoint accuracy of Electron Love Theory. Colors of the Galaxy is an electronically driven work that is not without the human heart and Earth-fire of the passionate acoustic musician. If you were to turn your ear away from the thoughtful melodic lines crooned out so convincingly by: Gaetana Gershbein, Katie Davis, Cielle Kiewit and tiffany you could easily spend 11 ¾ months playing bongos, congas, clave’s, maracas, and crotales in, on, over, under, in front of or behind these well played, thoughtfully constructed rhythms. In the spirit of Jesse Cook a world of all things acoustic and alive exists as the coal bed that fuels the fires of a very human work that is adorned in electronic aura. There’s a lovely spiritual quality this work emits too informing the listener that life is livable after tragedy, and full of the joys of lovemaking, prayer and togetherness. Remarkably Electron Love Theory has produced a diverse, unique electronic sounding work that is rich with groovy tribal rhythms, moving vocal performances, masterful musicianship, and slick heart-driven production that, for the technology employed exudes great warmth. Many recordings that feature these sensibilities would play like a commercial nightmare, but Leisawitz as sublime alchemist wields his creative gifts so that Colors Of The Galaxy is not only a terrific listening experience it, it could easily be the icing on the cake for many creative television shows and motion picture soundtracks. Colors Of The Galaxy is the cutting edge synthesis of the electro-acoustic with a creamy, appealing popular music middle.
warm, liquid, the power of ambient pop
author: tellousgreat album. songs which sneak into your system like an intravenous syrum. Warm, with natural use of female voice and tempo. Pop ambience at its best. I can easily envision this stuff on 2 of the largest radio stations in Seattle.
This Cd rocks!
author: MeaginThis Cd has everything you could want...cool melodic beats, awesome lyrics, and well-done vocals. I would recommend it! You never know what's coming next with Electron Love Theory! Rock on!
Stirring Words, indeed!
author: EroniCertainly ELT has proven that it can produce slick, breathless electro-pop with a host of first-rate female vocalists. The bulk of this album shimmers and bounces with hip, often trancey, always Euro-trash sounds and pop-star sass. But the unexpected gem on this album, for me, is the lovely ethereal _rock_ track 'Stirring Words', featuring acclaimed Seattle singer-songwriter Katie Davis. ELT’s atmospheric production suits the vibe of this haunting track perfectly. Slightly darker - and much more introverted - than the material on the rest of the album, 'Stirring Words' is an intriguing exploration, and a new direction that I hope ELT revisits in the future.
Wow-Finally some good music
author: Joel LampleyGot the album a couple of weeks ago and can't stop listening to it. Great lyrics, talented singer, great beats.. I could go on and on. Quality album by a quality group
amazing, ambient + hip :: not to be missed
author: ktellI love this album....I listen to it in the car, working on the computer + doing work around the house. It's cosmpolitan, relaxing + upbeat. The rhythms are funky + intricate...The cd is a delicate mix of electronic + soft funk with even a hint of folk-rock. Uptown is one of the best songs I've heard in a really long time - it stars as the most catchy, melodic tune on the album - despite the fact every other tune is also strongly melodic. The singer is excellent as well...I can't wait to hear more by Electron Love Theory.
sometimes the darkness is in the light
author: a wild flowerLike author Milan Kundera, Electron Love Theory's Colors of the Galaxy tackles darkness from inside the light. The melodies are light and seductive but the lyrics are dark and spiraling - a pleasing and impressive contrast once you give yourself over to the juxtaposition. The last song - an odd man out in both content and quality - is an unfortunate closing to an otherwise playful, thought-provoking expression of some of the darker aspects of human emotion. Still, several of these tunes have ear-worm potential and I've caught myself seeking them out on the I-POD to scratch that music-phrase-on-the-brain itch. Overall, an impressive collection of tunes and worth the nine bucks.
Wake up the sleeper and tell them the about your dream.
author: Output GlobalBifurcations of sound can often be cacaphonic. ELT knows the subtlety of loop, acoustics, sound production, and Beatle-based pop song writing. This combination is where the originality of ELT happens. With ELT's singular work in docu-electronica and their earlier crystal-meth poptronica, we're getting a glimpse into a new canto-syncline. It is dark, but crystals of hope are everywhere for the engaged listener. This album doesn't give up it's own secrets, but wakes you up to your most personal dreams. Find a dark place and let the music take you deeper.
need some theme music?
author: michael hayesElectron Love Theory's latest disc is a groovy soundtrack to your life. Every song delivers a soaring chorus, sweet vocal tones, and subtle but intricate programming. If I had my own television show as a 20-something professional making her way in the world, I would have this on my iPod as I walked to work every day in the big city (insert city here).
beautifully escapist.
