Album Notes

“Only a mad scientist could invent such a thing. But in this case, mad means complete genius!” Exhaven, Traverse City, Michigan.

EleKtriK SunsEt presents 'Weirdo Island'
from the mind of Joey Sunset Gusich!

Recording of this record took place at Last Stop Records, San Francisco. Alex James Muscat was the engineer. Musicians are Joe Gusich on Guitar.Mandolin.Vox.Drums, Accordion & AJM on Bass Guitar. EKKSE's reverb induced sound fetches influences from Rock, Surf, Psychedelia, Pop & Eastern Europe to bring together an original orgasm. ‘Quirky alternative rock which is at times very dark and catchy with lots of little extra ear candy sounds and ideas.'

The Sunset Guitar Sound was made mixing a Blue Fender Stratocaster with a Silver Sparkle Italia Modena Guitar and an occasional Martin Acoustic, Mandolin & Accordion along with Fender Amps.

Sunset’s splash debut Album, “Sunburn”, was released in the Summer of 2003 recorded at Sunset Studios, SF. It includes the smash hits ‘Superman is Clarke’ (a Keith Savage favorite), ‘Sunset Surf’ and ‘Smog Check (in Joe’s Brain)’.

Joe Gusich, originally of San Pedro, a surf suburb of Los Angeles, began his trailmix of music as an accomplished accordionist. As a drummer he has kept Beats with Rock and Surf bands in L.A. & San Francisco. Bands to his credit include: Prophet, Street Urchins, BonJoeVic, The Shoulder Hoppers, Mongoloid, The Walk-Ups & The New Black Trio. A claim to fame was with the Surfabilly Sound of ‘Elvis Can’t Surf’ and the release of their CD, ‘Nice Trunks’ while opening for Surf Guitar Legend Dick Dale at the Roxy, Hollywood. Later in SF, Joe & JJ Schultz formed the acoustic duo “BullJive!” playing local venues in SF & the Bay area as well as a cross-country tour in ‘03.

The band rocks regularly in SF & Bay Area. CD release parties & a U.S. tour are planned for '09. Stay Tuned!

I love this CD, start to finish. It's a great, laid back album you can just chill out to. My two favorite songs might be She Can't and Shake Shake Shake, but the rest of the tracks sit at a close second.
