AUDION magazine(#39 Dec.1997) Review of ELEMENTAL - "Lux Aeternae"
by Alan Freeman
"One Steven Stokes from Washington state, USA, "Elemental" is the moniker ofa synth musician working with both older and newer synth technology to create an aptly ethereal music that ventures onto bolder realms. Many of the tracks feature floating glissandi, arpeggios and pulsing waves, topped by vaguely melodic solos, all recalling Aeoliah at his best, as well as hinting at early Michael Stearns and Steve Roach circa his "Quiet Music" series.
But, that is not where all the music is, as sometimes the tension builds with some driving sequencer work, and there's also a little Tangerine Dream creeping in. Firmly mid-80's style, darker-edged, yet still bright and vibrant, this is synth cum new-age for those who want to do more than meditate, it's for those that want to mentally fly away!"

Heavily influenced by the electronic music of Europe and the "Berlin school" in the 70's to the mid 80's, this sweeping, liquidy electronic album is a muscle relaxer for the brain. Using mainly analog synthesizers and sequencers, these songs have a full spectrum of sounds, ranging from crystalline to earthy. Fans of Tangerine Dream, indulge yourself!

This disc captures the sound that is missing in electronic music today. The beautiful whirling synths and sequencing are a treat to the ears. A wonderful disc that is a must for fans of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and other electronic artists.
