Diggin' Deeper

by Elena Giordano

a unique splattering of pop/rock, electronica and dance, this collection depicts a journey of blind faith through time.  a true blend of spontaneity and craft, and a tactful balance between pop and the avant-garde.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Powerful emotion comes through clearly in Elena’s lyrics and delivery. An Adrenaline Junkie by nature, combined with the belief that music has the ability to heal and transform, Elena tackles her craft with maturity and wisdom, while humbly learning every day. Her blend of musicality, physicality, and spirituality is difficult to match.
This album began as a soundtrack to a one-woman show, and developed into a full pop album, b-sides included!

Courageous and Audacious!!
Elena Giordano is my favorite kind of artist-- her songs convey the urgency that she NEEDED to create this album or she'd explode-- that releasing "Diggin' Deeper" is Elena's way of ADDRESSING some of the things that eat away at her, that eat away at each of us. The result is an honest snapshot of one intense woman, courageously and vulnerably putting herself on display because 'expressing your truth' is not only liberating for yourself but also... because it just might have an impact on others as well. The person that emerges from these songs is someone you feel like you know quite well, or would like to.

Beyond the stellar songwriting, Elena is blessed with a tremendously effecting voice, as piercing and beautiful as the closeup photo of her eye featured on the cover. Hearing her, I imagine she was born with prodigious talent, and then spent a lifetime honing it even further into the perfectly expressive instrument it is today. It drips not just in attitude, but in attitudeS, plural... at turns playful, angry, hurt, ascendant, a different color for each song, sometimes many of these colors all at once.

The arrangements and production are also top-notch-- this feels like the release of a mature artist, not a first album. The highlights for me are "Diggin' Deeper" (I challenge you to find a better anthem for self-reliance and reflection), the audacious "Gatekeeper" (have a listen and discover for yourself!) and the sophisticated piano ballad, "Pretty Soon" which manages to strike a tone that's both earnest and worldly at the same time.

This is the rare album that has a song to provide a soundtrack for anything you use music for: play it while you run, or while you dance, work out, make love, meditate, or shake your fist defiantly at the heavens. It'll keep you good company, and provide... just a bit of solidarity with a fellow traveler.
