Album Notes

Elena Welch lives and performs on the Big Island of Hawaii. Elena is greatly influenced by her 10 fun formative years of living in the music city of Chicago, Illinois. She has a degree in voice from Columbia College where she studied under the direction of William Russo (Stan Kenton's musical director.) She also attended the Stanford Jazz Vocal Workshop headed up by jazz greats, Madeline Eastman and Sheila Jordon. Elena lived and performed in the Bay Area for 15 years where she often returns for appearances in San Francisco, Sonoma and San Mateo Counties. Elena is pleased to have two CDs to her credit. "Catnip Cafe" a swinging compilation with an all-star 6-piece band produced in 2003 and "Talk to Me" an intimate and soulful trio instrumentation completed in 2008. Elena and her band are available for booking at your special event.

Jazz Worth Celebrating
author: Music Enthusiast

It’s not often that an artist lets her levels of self-expression reach the many levels that Musician and singer Elena Welch reaches on “Talk to Me.” She’s not afraid of the deepest emotions that her soulful blues selections require. Nor is she afraid to stir things up and add as much “Pow” and sex appeal to numbers that haven’t had this much life breathed into them before now. Ms. Welch is a cause for celebration and someone to watch (and listen to) on today’s Jazz and Blues Music Scene. I can’t wait for her next release. Although this one is currently on constant repeat in my car and on my iPod playlists. This is definitely a release worth celebrating. But be prepared to feel the music. It’s that kind of gift that Ms. Welch shares on every track.

This gal delivers a song like nobody's business. Trouble is, no one else knows it because she sings only to me.
