Album Notes

Elevenland is part of a Central Jersey underground music scene that is characterized by a playful experimentality, graceful dissonance, and a picturesque absurdity.

The Garden King is a concept album - about an oak tree, who tells stories of the dead lying beneath its roots. Each song is a tale about a different creature. The music combines classical and folk guitar with melodic vocals and layers of atmospheric sound, and includes such instrumentation as guitars, sitars, synthesizers, fiddle, and harpsichord.

Currently the Garden King sound clips on CD Baby are having technical problems, but definitely check out the free music samples on the official Elevenland Website! (link to left)

"...track after track William amazes with his skills, with his unique song-writing and his sense for small but effective details. Like the vocals in the third track, that are pitched up and down to create psychedelic vibes. Works perfectly. The tale in ”Gamarabi” is centered around a man traveling the world on a donkey, so what could make a better percussion than the actual sounds of donkey hooves to the ground? It’s these kind of details that make this album a winner. ”Gamarabi”, by the way, feature some of the best flutes and fiddles on the disc, and very sensitive, soothing vocals." Magical

I downloaded this from mp3.com about seven years ago and am still listening to it regularly. Not a lot of albums I can say that about. This is the musical equivalent of "The Hobbit" (not so much "Lord of the Rings"), " The Wind in the Willows", and other works of classic fantasy.

Good acoustic guitar, fun stories
author: Arianne
The stories are interesting and well written, and accompanied by well played acoustic guitar, this is a good CD to listen to when you want to unwind and relax in the evening. It has some great tunes for children's bedtime as well.

As a friend of the artist, I am writing to say that I think that William Ether is the most talented musician that I've ever encountered, and that his music is very beautiful and creative. I highly recommened it to all. I only wish that it was appreciated by a greater audience.
