Eliza Boote aka “Cowgirl Boote” plays music from the heart. She plays organic, timeless, poetic tunes that she calls “live music.” Live, because her songs are a living extension of her emotional, physical, and intuitive experiences. Eliza grew up in Washington, D.C. , then spent six years living in Boulder, Colorado, studying creative writing and nurturing her creative side through poetics and the beautiful mountainous backdrop of the Rocky’s. In May 2006, she made the move to NYC, ready to explore the unknown. Something about the Big City forced her musical juices to flow and become her main focus. Some of her influences include Patti Smith, Laura Mullen, The Younger Sister Band, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Julia Massey. Her greatest influences though, are rooted in things less fleeting, such as seagulls, hawks, the moon, the sea, elm trees, and the land. In her song entitled “Coyote's Killer” she sings: “the Coyote's Killer/there's a river running down you forehead/a school of salmon/Savannah.” This line speaks to the organic yet ephemeral nature of her music—true to the moment and timeless to the ear.

Powerful! I first heard Savannah several months ago, and the title track still creeps into my brain so often that it has truly been the soundtrack of my summer. These songs resonate in my bones.

Emotional and unforgettable

Wow, this album is a real gem. When I heard bones to ashes, I bawled my eyes out. Eliza's songs build slowly and culminate in truly satisfying, heart-stirring choruses that you'll have stuck in your for days. My favorites are Bones to Ashes, Savannah and New Red Boots. Eliza Boote is a modern poet with old-timey musicality and I would recommend this album to everyone!
