ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Welcome to the exciting and horrifying world of El Jefe vs. Demons!

El Jefe vs. Demons is a NY based Horror.Surf.Death.Rock band that was formed in early 2006, shortly after Scott had left the drum seat for the band Psycho Charger. El Jefe vs. Demons sound combines aspects of surf, psychobilly & good old rock n roll into a bloody trail of musical death!

El Jefe vs. Demons is the greatest one man studio band, you’ve never heard of….haha! The band was formed out of the frustration and lack of originality and uniqueness in the surf, rockabilly and psychobilly genres, which I love, but also despise at the same time. Songs about hot rods, alcohol, sleazy women and raising hell are great and fun, but not so much, when every band is doing exactly the same thing lyrically and musically for the most part!
Hence, what I’m trying to accomplish with El Jefe vs. Demons. One part Deadbolt, one part The Cramps, one part Demented Are Go, one part Man Or Astroman? And Los Straitjackets, one part The Misfits, and finally one part the Melvins and Motorhead, is the way I would describe the band, but of course those are lofty expectations, as these are some of the greatest bands of all time, period! I’m sure I don’t sound like these bands as much as I believe I do, But I wouldn’t be a proper musician if I wasn’t arrogant and pompous, now would I…Nonetheless, these are my influences for creating my brand of horror and mayhem.

Horror. Surf. Death. Rock. is the motto for the band, as I’m sure you’ll agree. The “Death, Blood And The Guts” CD you have in your grubby little hands, is the first full-length release for the band. I released a self-titled, 6 song demo in 2006, which captured the basic essence of my terrifying and dark vision for the band, with a very tongue-in-cheek approach, which is always the basis of my music. Not taking yourself too seriously is essential to me, if you don’t have humility, your missing something. Also, check out the latest El Jefe vs. Demons release, “Meant To Be Creepy EP”, 6 songs of the continuing bloody tales, that drag you through a musical nightmare that’s all to real…

So grab a shovel and dig in!

Your friend till the bloody end,
El Jefe

Kick Ass Horror Rock!
Stumbled upon this band on CD Baby. Very different horror rock. Twangy, surf & psychobilly sensibilities with a kinda of metal aggression! Dyes It Red, Prey On The Dead, Stitches & Graveyard Shift are stand-outs! Great for the Halloween season. I think I may have saw them in NYC about a year ago, great live too! I definitely recommend this CD to anyone who likes Horror Rock, Psychobilly, Surf & the like!

A complete soundtrack feel to a wonderfully campy, gore-fest horror flick!
This band would probably fall into the psychobilly/surf genre, but the feel of this album is so complete that it feels like a soundtrack to a wonderfully campy, gore-fest horror flick. Each song is like a different scene, from Chased By A Zombie, Graveyard Shift and Prey on the Dead to WitchCreepin’ and Shadows this album gives you the idea that something is lurking in the shadows. The vocals are echoing and the slap bass is chugging. The tempo of each song is different, but where you’d expect the speed to be quicker and quicker they throw you for a spin. A theme throughout the album is a backbone of blues/rock and beat, like in slow songs from the 1960’s. Death, Blood And The Guts is a little bit romantic in a bloodstained sort of way. Nothing Like It!
I saw this band last year, and was intrigued. The venue was a "piece" and I didn't get the full effect until I got this record last week. I've been listening to it non stop since opening my mail.
Fresh, frighteningly inventive, and straight up bad ass rock n roll!!!
whether jefe is being "chased by a zombie" or "preying on the dead", this band is a force to be reckoned with!
Jefe Forever!

Cool, Weird Necro-Surf Music
This is really cool, weird, necro-surf type music with a unique streak similar to Cult of the Psychic Fetus, Deadbolt and Psychocharger(an ex-Psychocharger member would account for that, I reckon. 10 songs to creep you & your neighbors out (and I mean that in a good way). A fine listen.
