ellen cherry is the stage name for Baltimore-based singer/songwriter/musician Kristin Putchinski. Her new album, "heart like a lion", is the culmination of 10 years of experience as a traveling, touring, independent musician. With 12 tracks of new music, ellen cherry explores both her songwriter side and her power-pop sensibilities. In short, the album will surprise and delight you.

The album features artwork by both ellen cherry and award-winning photography Rich Riggins. They spent 6 months creating the photographs that reflect the spirit of each track on the album. The album was written, recorded and obsessed over from December 2005 to September 2007. Head engineer and drummer, Darin Lang, studio tech Shaun Wilson and ellen cherry produced the work independently in ellen cherry's own recording studio, Wrong Size Shoes Studio, in Baltimore, MD. It also features Baltimore musicians Kirsten and Lucien Walsh on 'cello and bass.

ellen cherry has been steadily garnering attention throughout the US and Western Europe over the last decade through constant performing, touring and recording. In the past 10 years, she has produced 10 recorded works, including 2 movie soundtracks. She is also an award winning vocalist (Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award Recipient 2006 for Vocal Performance). Her signature voice and style of playing and storytelling has charmed audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Her songs range in subject matter from the universal (love, despair, loss of love, dreams) to the strange (Civil War Brides, serial killers in Chicago). An artist incapable of stopping her process of creation, ellen cherry is already working on the next recording!
