REVIEWS

A CD that deserves a considerable amount of exposure and airplay
author: John Book, Music For America
Ellen Honert is a jazz vocalist who enjoys the smoother side of her music, but without sounding too lightweight. Breath Of The Soul (Mill Station) is an apt description of her music, going back a bit to the days of Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, specifically Lani Hall, although her voice reminds me a bit of Monday Michiru. The album has a lot of different styles for everyone, those who love a bit of the quiet storm will love her rendition of the George Duke classic "Someday", complete with a great complimentary vocal from Tony Lindsay, who at times could be mistaken for Peabo Bryson. She also does a heartfelt cover of Stevie Wonder's "If It's Magic", and her version of The Beatles' "Got To Get You Into My Life" takes a lighter approach of the Earth, Wind & Fire arrangement. Tuck & Patti also appear on the album, assisting Honert in "Life Is What You Make It", which deserves a considerable amount of airplay.

author: Jan Aernout Broekhuysen (The Netherlands)
A wonderful high quality Jazz Vocals CD which enables you to really relax. Ellen took her chances and left Holland to follow her heart and that power of innerlove is expressed in every song. In Holland everyone I presented the CD was delighted. So Holland has a new star, and we need that.
