Album Notes

Ellen Lerner is a true singer/songwriter. She tells stories.
Listeners are so amazed as to how Lerner can get so many characters in her novel-like lyrics to come alive within such a simple delivery.
Lerner has a very special relationship with her songs and her audience. She explains, "What is really me is singing a story that is my own or that I can make my own. That honesty comes across in my work. Sometimes there is a lyric that I do not want in there, but I cannot change it, because that line is the truth- my truth.
I knew since I was small that this was my calling. I have been writing all of my life and I hope to never stop."
Ellen Lerner is discovering things about herself through music. She travels the distance between musical heros and her very own unique sound, from reflections on her own upbringing to raising a son, and discovering anew what her message means in a different time and place. It is a triumph of mastering a new stage of life upon the stage of music- her very first love.

REVIEWS

Bought this CD a few years ago.....my friend took it...I'm getting another!

What can you say? Ellen Lerner is just an exquisite writer. I once read a review that said "She is like Tori Amos without the weird bits!" I could not agree more....nothing fancy, nothing weird.....just good songwriting...and let's not forget her voice....Man, it can bring tears to your eyes! She reminds me of The Brill Building days...amazing writers, getting paid squat, etc. I hear Ellen and sometimes I feel a Joni or Carole King presence, and then I realize, she did this all on her own. She is simply Ellen. Thank Goodness1own....thebroke the mold when they made her!broke the mold whe
