Hailing from Southern Illinois near the St. Louis area, Ellen Martinez has been singing and entertaining all her life. She has graduated from country, rock, and pop music to become a skilled jazz vocalist, making use of all of the musical experiences available to her. Her most recent, and third CD, MIXED EMOTIONS, is a beautiful collection of songs featuring both classic standard tunes, as well as some brand new originals. Ellen has written four of the songs and has collaborated with several of the musicians on three others. The songs are all about some view of love, for the world, for one's self, and, without a doubt, for a significant other. Ellen uses a sexy, whispery approach to some of the ballads, while adding a dramatic, climactic touch to some of the more energetic cuts. The songs all possess a melodic quality that is so often missing in today's music. Also featured on the CD are some of the best and most creative musicians St. Louis has to offer. Guitar, piano, bass, drums, saxophone, vibes, percussion, and vocals all share the stage on this great disc to create the perfect mood music for your next date or quiet evening together.
