Album Notes

Described as Tenacious D with a vagina, The Ellie Maybe Experence plays their own brand of driving, catchy pop/rock. The band's debut album, Meet Ellie. (Horse-Drawn Records), features a collection of songs that you won't be able to get out of your head, no matter how far you stick the Q-tip.

Principal songwriter Ellie Maybe draws on a slutty past of hard drinking and ineffective psychotherapy to spin an intricate lyrical web that rivals Bukowski's self-loathing and Henry Miller's antibiotic regimen. Teamed with local powerpop icon Vee Sonnets on guitar and percussionist extraordinaire Eric Yoder on drums, The Ellie Maybe Experence will blow you away with little more than the first powerchord and a few dirty words, though it's probably in your best interest to hang on for the ride.

The Ellie Maybe Experence has recently undergone a makeover and a name change: they are now Chicago's budding glam-pop darlings, The Maybenauts! The Maybenauts expect to release their EP debut under the new name in Summer 2009, so keep an eye out!
