Album Notes

Based in Central Oregon, Elliot is a five-piece indie rock group. Elliot’s guitarist and lead writer, Casey Parnell explains the influence of the band’s home town on their music.

“We love where we’re from. Central Oregon is such a rugged and inspiring place to live. The whole Northwest is such a musical melting pot. We couldn’t really help falling into it…”

Seattle’s grunge, Portland’s coffee shop acoustic vibe, all the way to Central Oregon’s own folksy bluegrass movement have lent influence to their sound. Aggressive and ethereal guitars, soft languid pianos, and pop vocal arrangements make their latest offering, “Rocketships” an exploration of both pop and rock themes.

“We have a tendency to try things that are pretty strange but a pop sensibility that keeps us grounded.”, says Evan Earwicker, the band’s pianist.

Their lyrics explore matters of faith and doubt, justice and injustice, the broken and the whole. The group’s lead vocalist is Corey Parnell, who describes Elliot’s music as both inspiring and challenging to listeners.

“I just want to write music that gives people hope, helps them see there’s more to live for and more to do. I want them to get done listening and adopt an orphan, or help out at a local food bank, or just forgive somebody.
