Having lived around the world, Ellysa’s songwriting has a depth and maturity that is unusual in a 17 year old. Her songs are full of insightful lyrics and memorable melodies that appeal to a wide audience. She began playing the piano at the age of 4, cello at 10 and composed and wrote her first songs at 12. Ellysa bought her first guitar at 15 and taught herself to play. That is when she really became a songwriter. To date, she has written over 30 songs and the number keeps growing. A couple of months ago she added a ukulele to the mix and, after teaching herself to play it, has already written several songs with it!
Ellysa grew up living and traveling around the world and being exposed to a vast array of musical and songwriting styles. When she was just three her family moved back and forth to Japan,England and America. At just 17 years of age, she has moved 7 times already! During this time she traveled to more countries than most adults do in a lifetime. While it was an amazing experience, it was tough always making friends only to move a couple of years later. The one thing she never left behind, however, was her music. Music was the one friend she could always pack up and take with her.
Now she has packed up all of her instruments and moved to California to take her career to the next level. She just recorded her first EP, Stop Waiting with three original songs due to be released soon. Compared to likes of Jason Mraz, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, Ellysa has a passion for writing lyrics that connect with her audience emotionally as well as artistically. Her style includes a mix of singer/songwriter, pop and soft rock. She performs live around LA at places like the Key Club, Whisky a Go Go, Hollywood Studio Bar and Grill and more.
