Album Notes

ELM welcomes you to a taste of our Saturday Sessions. All original, rough-cut, no over dubbing, "live" sessions of modern Bluesy/folk. Weaving styles of folk, blues, standards, seasoned with a couple of effects. The first course is the troubled love song “Ice Queen” a tale of love unfulfilled. Next up, “I Know” which tries to balance the Techno world with a simple love song. The Protest Song “Between the Lines” tells the tale of ideology gone awry. While “Hourglass Blues” rambles on about the simple blues theme of procrastination. “Lady of the Island” is a protest song about a classic American image lost in the hysteria of these troubled times, while “Icarus” ponders the results of losing your map for life and flying blind. “Strawberry Jam” contains a poetic vision of an incredible music festival nestled in the beautiful sierras near Yosemite. “Sugar song” is a jam that came about from a session conversation recalling old sugar rushes most of us enjoyed (or endured if you are the parent or teacher ) during the holiday season. “Hits and Misses” is a love song of dreams that hopefully lie in all our futures. “Twist of Lime” regales with images of social mingling. The simple “Whiskeytown” is a tale of poker playing in the desert without a clue, and the last song “Slipping Away” is an incredible jam with words of social intention and reflection.

The CD contains beautiful artwork and a bonus: a booklet with the words to the songs.Michael (guitar, lead vocals), Erick (harmonica, backing vocals) and Lynn (Violin and backing vocals) have been playing or performing off and on for years in various bands. Some talented musicians have joined us for our Saturday Sessions and on our this, our debut album, Jack Grosse plays his custom acoustic bass on “Lady of the Island” We attempt to make the music fresh but still keep it simple as we weave the individual threads of instruments together to create new sounds that evoke the Blues, social reflection, or just enjoying life. Take a listen and tell your friends. Best Regards, ELM

Heartfelt and fun folk blues songs with great vocals and musicianship
author: KTM
Saturday Sessions is heartfelt, pure, and fun. The writing, vocals, and musicianship come together in a fantastic album of folk blues songs. The acoustic setting felt like I was sitting in on the recording, and experiencing an intimate acoustic jam session. The acoustic guitar, violin, and harp paint a mosaic of sounds and feelings that I hope continues in to further recordings from this very talented trio.

Wow! I like it!
author: Lee
I really enjoyed the blend of vocals (the main artist's voice is great) and instrumentals (love that harp and violin)! The blend and weave of the words and music have depth, vision, and harmony, yet a playfulness, too! It seems you all enjoyed the process of creating the pieces as much as I enjoyed listening! Keep the music coming! I'll be buying a CD soon!!
