(ENGLISH) ELMAPI
As pop performer, Elmapi has created a powerful blend of raw material, sense of voice, and a fire-brand attitude, \"powerful woman-energy\" (True Vine, Baltimore). She is an electro-pop alchemist, urging found sound and \'wild sound\' to interact with vocal and rhythm. The result is something like Edith Nylon or early Stereolab performing French pop with elements of musique concrete. Her albums \"Pop\'up\" (Lentonia Records, 2005) and \"Arcane Electronique\" (Lentonia Records, 2006), mix-mastered by Andy Moor from the band The Ex, have pulled her from the Paris underground to wooly tours across the USA and beyond.
Elmapi also writes electronic music scores for contemporary dance troupes and she continues to perform her electro-acoustic work in France, at Radio France (GRM) for example. Most recently, she edited and transformed the found and field recordings for the experimental science fiction feature 1,2,3, Whiteout (2007), for which she also played a devilish minor role.
