sandy beach meets outer space;personalised fengshui; workshop yuh life styled in
author: Joanne Johnson www.caribbeanchildren.com
Some would think that a wild beach on the East coast of the Caribbean's southern most island, Trinidad, is the furthest place from the ethereal tones of cosmic space heard in this volume. Yet to know Manzanilla is to know that this music is as much of the beach as the calypso and Soca so readily associated with our West Indian culture. If there is one Caribbean artist capable of inventing some new fangled creative perspective, Duncan is it; and Manzanilla (indeed, all her Movie for the Mind volumes)is the primordial sound track. More than music, Manzanilla feels to me like shades and tones. Sounding at times, more like a child at play than the studied accomplishment of a musician; like the kind of personal feng shui you and I could create with a Roland if we took the time - How many of us do? I like that this music inspires me to create in the workshop of my own life.

The sounds... many sounds ... seemed to come from all directions, even through me... bringing many different realities with their sound vibrations. I was in ‘Manzanilla’ wherever that may be, whether real or make believe... and I will go there again some day soon...

author: Rosanna Farmer
The cd really captures the mystery and majesty of Manzanilla and carries me back to my often weekly drives back and forth on that stretch. Like the drive along the coconut road, the music is extremely theraputic and enjoyable.
