ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Elyse Macaulay, the 22 year old songstress, guitarist, songwriter has proven herself to be a rarity in the industry today: she's no celebrity little sister, she's no auto-tune depender. She's honest - in her writing, in her vocal performance, even in the studio. The recently completed "Bridges" EP was recorded all to 2-inch tape in an analog studio over a period of 4 days.

Elyse has been performing and composing her own material for years. After working with producer and songwriter Bonnie Hayes (Bonnie Raitt, Billy Idol, Cher), Elyse took Hayes' advice and left for New York City, where she quickly immersed herself in the "hipster rock" scene, only to leave it behind for the vintage, soulful folk pop illustrated on her most recent recording.

She moved into a basement apartment in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with Lori Sprester of Twin Spires Studios, who was in the middle of producing Your New Best Friend's first full length CD. Todd Satterfield, lead writer, singer and guitarist for the group took immediate interest in Elyse after hearing an acoustic demo of hers. Todd and the rest of Your New Best Friend, Ken White on drums and David MacFadden on bass, offered to back her up on future performances and project. That relationship took them from Manhattan (e.g. Lit Lounge) to San Francisco (e.g. The Makeout Room) for shows and back to Brooklyn to Metrosonic Studios to record producer Davey La (James Blunt, Ambershades) and engineer George Dugan.

Now, back in her native San Francisco, she's primed to leave her mark in music. Elyse is a poignant storyteller, a unique blend of Michelle Branch, Nick Drake and Rufus Wainwright.
