ABOUT EMERALD RAE:
Besides having an effervescent stage personae and a flair for writing tunes,Emerald is U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion (2004), and graduate of Berklee College of Music (2006) where she majored in Film Scoring, and is currently completing a Masters Thesis in Early Scottish Fiddle Sources through the University of Glasgow after spending a year researching in Scotland.
She brings vigor and energy to ancient melodies while forging new pathways for her own clever compositions. Her performances feature an eclectic mix of fiddle styles, pulling influences from Scotland, Ireland and Appalachia and Scandinavia, all delivered with her unique style and grace. Her comfort on stage and with her audiences make it a truly entertaining experience.
On her debut solo album "Contemplaytion", Emerald brings some of the east coast's finest Celtic accompanyists to play with her. The album included her fiddling, singing, dancing, and 12 original tunes.

A great debut CD. The arrangements are very pleasant (fine cello parts) and the tunes very interesting too. I hope that this young fiddler will bring us many other cds !

Great fiddleplaying with a lot of knowledge about the historical backgrounds of these styles. The celloparts are amazing and creating fundamental rythms for building the tunes on. Emerald has a fine technique on her instrument. All together it´s a great album with a warm sound. You´ll keep on listening to it again and again!

Excellent CD, awesome music

As a cellist (albeit out of practice), as well as a Scottish/Irish/Celtic music lover, this CD fit my musical tastes perfectly. Some of the best fiddling and musicianship I've heard in awhile. I've had a few friends wonder "How'd they do that?" with some of the playing done by several of the instruments, and it's become nearly a daily listen when I'm at work.
