This album is a great collection of Emily's early work. It was recorded at North Branch Studio in Chicago in just a couple of days, and was released through Columbia's record label. Emily's clever rhymes are showcased as clearly as ever, with strong piano lines and hearty vocals. There is a fragility behind the songs of this debut album; most of the songs were written when Emily was a teenager. She released the album at Chicago's Elbo Room with Adam Markunas and Pierce Doerr. Though it is no longer in print, the song "Sangria" from this album is still one of the top requested songs in Emily's vast collection.
