ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
New artist, Emily Kirsch is a seventeen-year old junior in high school. She, like many vocalists, began singing in church at the age of six. Emily has been blessed with many talented mentors; they have given her numerous opportunities to perform in churches, cabarets, and bluegrass venues at various locations. At age 10, she sang with The Lost Colony Chorus, accompanied by the North Carolina Symphony in the Blue Skies and Red Earth Celebration of North Carolina's Musical Heritage. She was lead vocalist and guitarist with a group of musicians known as Supper Break Band. In 2011, Emily recorded her first solo on Russell Johnson's CD--Anytime, Anyplace, But Only You-- New Time Records. Jon Weisberger, 2012 IBMA Songwriter of the Year, commenting on Emily's talent: "There are some great--and scarily young--talents coming up in bluegrass these days, and Emily Kirsch qualifies as one on both counts. There have always been great young virtuoso instrumentalists, but it is very rare to find this much ability in the singing department, and that makes her a very special find. Kudos to Russell Johnson for having put together such a fine band and having helped to come up with such a strong set of material, but let's be clear; the spotlight is right where it belongs here, on Emily Kirsch--a singer who's going to make an awful lot of listeners sit up and take notice."

Emily lives in Four Oaks, North Carolina, a small rural community; she is an honors student in high school, active in sports, playing golf, basketball, softball and is a member of the Honors Chorus. Very dedicated to her church, she sings in the choir, plays with the praise and worship band, and is president of the church youth group. Emily encourages everyone, no matter what their style to always "embrace the music".
