Album Notes

Emily’s devotion to music originated when her father urged her to take piano lessons at 12 years old. After two years, she realized her heart was truly into singing. From musicals to choir to a capella singing groups, Emily has integrated her passion for music into her life in many ways. During high school she performed gigs with her father, a talented musician as well, as a duet group. Influenced by artists such as Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, India Arie, Stevie Wonder and many more, Emily wrote her first song at 16 and has written 12 since then. Drawing from her own experiences, she writes at an intimate level and is now expanding her themes to address more relevant social issues. She recently recorded this CD of 6 of her original tunes and plans to record again in the near future with more originals, new and old. She is currently attending UC Santa Barbara in California and is part of the University’s well known co-ed a capella group, “Naked Voices.”
