Not many 17 and 18-year-old musicians can say they have 3-plus years experience writing original songs with hundreds of live performances under their belts. Oklahoma City rock band Emit is one of those rare cases. Cousins Brian Collins (vocals, bass) and Caleb Collins (guitar) began collaborating at 15, and launched Emit with 14-year-old Austin Brimacombe behind the drums. Three years and a keyboard player (Benjamin Killebrew) later, Emit is releasing their first professionally-produced record, the 6-song EP, “Symptoms Begin to Show”. Most of the music was recorded by the band on Caleb’s MacBook and then taken to BWG Studios in Oklahoma City for vocals, mixing, and mastering. The material on “Symptoms Begin to Show” marks a new level of maturity for the band and showcases their remarkable songwriting talents, influenced by bands such as Muse, MuteMath and Copeland. Made-for-radio tracks like “Entrepreneur”, “Feels Like a Heart Attack”, and “Time to Make a Move”, demonstrate Emit’s ability to write captivating hooks and sing-along melodies. Emit has taken their energy-charged live show all over Oklahoma, sharing the stage with regional acts such as The Uglysuit, Vannadine, Mayola, Fires of Atlas, Radial Angel, Hollow, and The Noise FM. The coming year will find Emit playing regionally more as well as sneaking in as much studio time as possible to lay down tracks for a new EP.
