"Galway-based Emmet Scanlan and his four-piece band have a fine 4-track CD with all original Scanlan songs marrying Irish folk with Americana and bluegrass touches.

The blend of Irish, Italian, Swedish and Scottish musicians gives the loose band sound a uniqueness that sets it apart, and Scanlan's expressive vocals carry the songs off with aplomb.

It really comes together on 'You Know Who Knows', with its plaintive fiddle playing and percussive backing.

'The Great Unknown' is another gem, with Scanlan's voice in full command and the band providing a suitably evocative soundscape.

'Hands' is a longer workout that allows the band to blossom and flower.
