A fresh new talent in the world of jazz, blues, and gospel music is the soulful and deeply spiritual poet and recording artist Emmett Wheatfall. With a commanding voice and strong writing chops, this new lyrical poet is somebody lovers of poetry and spoken word need to have on their play list.

His freshman CD titled "When I Was Young" says it all. With tracks that address sensitive topics like love, romance, fidelity, betrayal, and faith, what more needs to be said. Emmett Wheatfall is America’s new social, political, and storytelling poet.

Bound to be a big time hits are "When I Was Young", "Dance With Me", "In Your Arms"," I Hear, I Believe I Hear", and that most monster track “Pretty Black Girl You So Fine." Spoken word poems like "Ms. Janice Scroggins & Her 88 Keys", "Love Was Brewing", and "I Know You Tough And All That" create a nice foundation for the jazz and blues poetry.

His artistic creativity dates back to high school and college where acting and directing were his passions. Over the years he has done voice over work and is an annual presenter of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I Have A Dream Speech during Black History Month. A deeply religious man, husband, and father, Emmett is well versed in the matters of life.

Emmett says poetry introduced itself to him. Asked to recite a poem written by a friend, it stands today as the key that opened his mind and voice to the literary and spoken artistry of poetry.
