INTRODUCING "SONGS": A NEW SERIES OF UPCOMING ALBUMS FEATURING B-SIDES, RARITIES AND UNRELEAESD MATERIAL BY VAL EMMICH
THIS FIRST VOLUME IS ENTITLED "WOODSTOCK"
In October of 2005, Val Emmich escaped the city life he was accustomed to and disappeared into nature, renting a house in historic Woodstock, New York. His goal was to put away all distractions, shake off any prior preconceptions and return to a place within himself of artistic innocence. Two weeks alone in the woods did the trick. With a revived sense of creativity and a willingness to take fresh chances with his writing, Emmich quickly worked up thirty new songs. He was soon joined by his band and friend/producer Jason Cupp who together turned the house into a makeshift recording studio. Playing late into the night as loud as they wanted with no one around to bother them, Emmich and company recorded the demos for many of the songs that would become the basis for Val's 2006 full length album SUNLIGHT SEARCHPARTY. This collection, entitled WOODSTOCK, contains some of the other songs recorded at the Woodstock house during the fall of 2005 and shows the many sides of Emmich's writing: from pure pop gems to experimental soundscapes, from the sparse to the orchestral, from the lighthearted and playful to the hopeless and tragic, all containing the naked honesty and keen real-life observations that have always characterized Emmich's work. WOODSTOCK is an authentic document of an artist testing is limits and reconnecting with his passion to express himself unhindered through song.

Val Emmich puts out another great album!
author: Freddie Kane
Val Emmich is a pretty laid back easy guy, I met him a long time ago when he was doing that yahoo tour. He was telling me all about the switch he was hoping to make so he could release more albums. The guy did it and did it well! Woodstock is another brilliant album where we see all different sides of Val's writing.

VE Woodstock is a must
author: Matt Viall -- mattviall@hotmail.com
VE woodstock is a masterpiece. Own it. Support a fellow Jersey boy and outstanding artist. Record stems from the very "Sunlight Search Party" sound to the stripped down raw almost demo sound. Each lyric tells an interesting story. Just the same diverse guitar lines keep it new and interesting. First 4 tracks are gems. Again grab the cd. Pick up Sunlight Search party. Steal Slow Down Kid. And see VE tear up a local bar near you. Don't want to see this kid blow up and turn into the next Taking Back Sungay. But excited to see him get the recognition he deserves.

gritty and unpretentious....Emmich has found the formula
author: John Pfeiffer, The Aquarian Weekly
This first edition of the Woodstock recording sessions, titled "Songs, Volume 1" is a bonafide batch of B-sides that captures the continuing essence of what I felt was the years best CD," Sunlight SearchParty." What I like most about this Upstate honed material is the gritty and unpretentious style of Emmich's writing which seems to blend effortlessly with the live feel and organic flair of producer Jason Cupp.
They don't waste time over-processing tracks and trying to make their projects something ridiculously off the mark. Their attention to detail has always been in the pre-production and it pays off nicely. Of course writing good material is necessary as well. But that's not a problem here.
Honest and sincere, Emmich has found the formula and as the Woodstock Volumes project continues, I can only shake my head and wonder about what these guys will accomplish with their next offering.
