Who is 'Eden Mi Qedem?
'Eden Mi Qedem/'Aden Min Qadeem (להקת עדן מקדם / عدن من قديم ) is a genre-defying world fusion band that is crossing musical and cultural boundaries that have never been crossed. Headed by singer/songwriter/guitarist Jon Nelson (aka Samuel), 'Eden Mi Qedem has been amazing and drawing fans with its breathtaking and dynamic sound. World music? Psychedelic Jam band? Middle Eastern rock? The band's music is such a natural blend of East/West, Rock/Pop, English/Hebrew/Arabic lyrics that people from all over the world have been moved by it, finding a new, yet familiar world of inspiration in it's sound and message.
Why is the new disk called "Semantra"?
Semantra are ancient wooden percussion instruments that have been used throughout the Middle East for over millennium. Their main purpose: to summon people to prayer. For ‘Eden Mi Qedem, music IS semantra. Eden Mi Qedem’s music is also a study in the semantics of mantra. It examines the ancient connection between words and transcendence, and invites its listeners to join in this exploration.
