"For every song is a picture and every picture a song ..."

In the beginning there was a guitar, a few English lines and a voice – all looking for their destination. Today, thirty years later, the songwriter and artist Enrico Novi introduces his artproject pop gallery, a complete work of timeless popsongs and expressive oil paintings.

With his easy listening melodies and expressions, Enrico Novi, German with Italian roots, brings us on a journey through life with all its varying sides, highs and lows, ups and downs. Pop Gallery combines listening, seeing and soul. Easy-flowing and tastefully produced popsongs meet with strong coloured and clear structured paintings. Every picture represents a metaphor of the title or the words of a song, allowing the freedom for individual interpretation.

New songs with English and German lyrics, new paintings and regular live performances ensure that the project is continuously evolving and improving. Together with his long-term French musicians, Christophe Simon & Phil Sissler (drums & bass), Enrico Novi represents a real alive Europe. This intensive "German-Frenchconnection" began in 1993 and gives this talented and skilled acoustic trio that special individual touch.




"Möge jeder Song ein Bild sein und jedes Bild ein Song", so lautet das Leitmotiv von pop gallery, einem Gesamtwerk aus zeitlosen Pop-Songs und Ölmalerei.

Nach Jahren des Suchens ist der Songwriter und Maler Enrico Novi bei sich und seiner individuellen Ausdrucksform angekommen. Was mit ersten Eigenkompositionen Ende der 70er Jahre begann, fand im Jahr 2004 ein neues Zwischenziel auf dem Weg der künstlerischen Enwicklung.

Musik und Bilder sind geprägt von Tiefgründigkeit und vermitteln Botschaften aus den Erfahrungen eines abwechlungsreichen Lebens. Enrico Novi geht es bei seinen Liedern, Texten, der Darstellung von Gegenständen und dem Spiel der Farben vor allem um die Aussagekraft, um den Symbolcharakter. Jedes Bild steht für einen Songtitel oder die Textzeile eines Songs, so daß Auge, Ohr und Geist miteinander verbunden sind.

Im Herbst 2004 wurde pop gallery erstmals "live" und auf CD präsentiert. Publikum und Presse waren sich einig: Die melodiösen und zeitlosen Songs bildeten in Verbindung mit den dazu gefertigten Ölbildern eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre, getragen von einer erfahrenen Live-Band, die sich auf das Wesentliche konzentrierte. Und pop gallery entwickelt sich weiter - neue Songs, neue Bilder.

Après quelques années d´une escapade créatrice, pendant laquelle il laisse libre cours à ses appétits d´espace et de découverte, le compositeur, chanteur-guitariste et artiste peintre italo-allemand Enrico Novi s´est enfin posé fin 2004 avec son album pop gallery. Un condensé de pop-rock avec de belles ballades folk.

On se souvient bien des excellents concerts de groupe NOVI dans les années 90 (Colmar/Foire aux Vins, Colmar/PlaceRapp/14juillet, Colmar/Rock Café & Hexagone, Strasbourg/Laiterie, Nancy, Metz etc.) avec son premier album "feeding the flame", qui était enregistré et produit 1995 en Alsace dans son propre studio.

Enrico Novi a changé son style de présentation. Les compositions très construites et mélodiques sont plus calmes que précédemment et pop gallery est plus qu´un disque: "pop gallery est un concept entier qui est toujours en progrès et l´essentiel de ce projet est entre les lignes" explique-t-il. C´est la confrontation répétée à la mort durant cette période de relaxer qui a poussé Enrico Novi à le produire. Avec ses chansons et ses peintures à l´huile l´artiste parle de ses expériences, de la vie et de l´éphémère.

Pendant les concerts, les tableaux seront projetées en grand sur scène pour une meilleure association entre l´image et la musique.

Le caractère transfrontalier de Enrico Novi se lit aussi dans la composition de son trio:

Depuis plus qu´une décade il est accompagné par les Colmariens Christophe Simon (batterie) et Philippe Sissler (basse/chant). Une section rythmique extraordinaire, avec laquelle Enrico Novi peut présenter ses chansons intemporelles pur et net. La mélancolie et la réflexion ont rendez-vous avec l'ironie et la joie de vivre.
