The Entertainers held their first rehearsal in July, 1980 in Charlotte , NC and played their first gig in August of that same year in Myrtle Beach, SC. From the very start, this band gained immediate attention and success performing Beach Music and R & B up and down the east coast. They cultivated a sound combining horns and intricate harmonies along with the distinct rhythms of the now world famous Carolina Beach sound, that elevated them immediately to the upper eschelon of perfoming bands. The group has scored with some great original music like “Beach Music-My Music” from the prolific pen of band member Johnny Barker, but is equally known around the globe for their wonderful interpretations of soul standards like “I’m In Love With You” and “Hot On A Thang”. The group enjoys an especially zealous following in Japan, where much of their recorded output has been re-issued through P-Vine Records.
