Album Notes

"You can hear straight away that there is heart and soul in this music, a deep love and understanding of the tradition out of which it comes and a maturity that grows out of more than thirty years performing and enjoying the music."

Philip King

Eoin's gift for composition is highlighted here in ten original tracks written over five years. From the opening notes on the low whistle you will be carried on a musical odyssey with each track leading perfectly into the next and ending up with a beautiful Sean Nós song written by his grandfather and sung by his mother Gobnait and sister Muireann.
Eoin is joined on this recording by:
Scullion's talented guitarist Robbie Overson
Virtuoso Bódhrán player and percussionist Robbie Harris
Máire Breathnach, who wrote and played the arrangements for viola and violin
Philip King plays harmonica on The Marguerita
Keith Donald, former member of the innovative Moving Hearts band plays soprano sax on Chaplin's March and The Taipei Jig
Steve Cooney provides accompaniment on both guitar and percussion for the polka Carefree, and wrote and played the arrangement on Hammond Organ for the title track, Ancient Rite
Jon Sanders played bass on Chaplin's March and Shades of Immrama
Steve Coulter played mandolin on The Taipei Jig and also provided keyboard drones and atmospheric effects on Barefoot and Shades of Immrama
Thomas Gleeson played didgeridoo on Chaplin's March.
