A splash of trippy-jazzy-funky, twisted poetry and painterly pop music. It's all woven together into a pop tour de force, a world that immerses the listener in lush melody, bedroom-philosopher lyricism and novel arranging ideas.

Album Notes

The Chicago band Epicycle is comprised of brothers Ellis and Tom Clark. They have been singing and writing together since their childhood. And while their history is quite extensive, it was in 1995 they built their own recording studio, ANGEL CITY. Here they spent the next three years putting together their first album.

Epicycle crosses strong songwriting sensibilities with tightly woven pop harmonies. Epicycle makes use of an eclectic group of instruments including a Farfisa Organ, Piccolo Trumpets, Trombones, Esraj, Banjo, and Tape Loops. Epicycle is finally ready to release their second album "Swirl". The new album fulfills the promise of being a highly orchestrated affair.

Some of the many contributions from Chicago's top musical talent on the new album include cellist Eric Remschneider (The Smashing Pumpkins "Siamese Dream" / & Filter, and violinist Merritt Lear (The Drovers and Butterfly Child). The album also features Paul Mertens known for his woodwind arrangements and performances on Brian Wilson's last solo outing "Imagination". Paul is currently on tour with Brian.

Their critically acclaimed 1998 CD, "Orange", has recently been re-issued on the Crest Record Label. Look for a follow-up album scheduled for a spring 2002 release. They are now doing live performances.
