Alchemy is defined as “any magical power or process of transmuting a common substance, usually of little value, into a substance of great value”. 
With the release of The Alchemist, her second spoken word album, Epiphany Castro does just that with words. She takes simple little words and transforms them into powerful images and beautiful stories. Images of love, life and everything in between. Stories like the first time she was called the N-word. 
Her words and the sensual melodies they are laid upon take you on a journey, making stops along the way at pain, acceptance, fear and joy.
My personal favorite track is Uprooted, the story of a tree who bore beautiful fruit only to be picked clean by someone who in turn used those fruits for their personal gain. Even though this is a tree, I’m sure we can all relate to that which happens to it.
