Album Notes

The hard penetrating, self-reflective vocals of this MC poignantly illustrate that true school hip hop is alive and well. Born in the Midwest, raised in Maryland, and schooled in the business in NYC, E Reece is unlike any artist you have ever heard or seen. This talented and hard-working lyricist, songwriter, poet, and musician keeps your attention at every turn and will make you challenge yourself. His music speaks of love, life, and staying true to yourself.

His love of music began when he began to study jazz saxophone at age 12. His early influences include Michael Jackson, Prince, Charlie Parker, Gerry Mulligan, and later A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-1, EPMD and other east coast artists. He began to develop his own style in high school, when he started freestyling with his boys. Later he would hone his skills at open mic nights and any cipher he could get in, most notably with the legendary KRS-1 and BET’s ex-Rap City host Tigger at the 930 Club in DC in 1999. A love for hip hop has developed into a promising career, with growing success on the underground level from MD to NYC to LA, where he currently resides.

E Reece brings you "Organic Hip Hop" to feed your mind, body and soul with no additives or preservatives. E has worked with fellow LA underground MCs Jamal, Crag Malkovich (Gershwin BLX), and Tha Beloved aka Two B; Michigan transplants Now On and Buff1; alternative singer Rosey; producers Presto, Proh Mic, T.i.M, DJ Rhettmatic (Beat Junkies), Haircut (Lab Techs), Tycoon (Fyre Dept.), and Leggo (Dakah); soul singer extraordinaire Sy Smith and male R&B singers Hilsyde and Mateo, to name a few.

He’s blazed the stage several times at The Temple Bar in Santa Monica, CA and has become an extended family member at the legendary "Rootdown” LA’s #1 hip hop weekly. He’s performed at numerous clubs, universities and festivals across the globe and the country, opening for and playing alongside such artists as Brand Nubian, Black Sheep, DJ Babu, Medusa, Jneiro Jarel, Rich Medina, LA Symphony and others. You can check out some of his other releases “Next Up” [2006], "A New Breed" [2007, EMH/Kajmere] and “L.I.S.n 2 This Live.In.Studio.” [2009, Elevated Mental/Foundation Media] online at cdbaby.com/all/ereece. His music has also been licensed to television and film projects, as well as video games, namely 2K Sports’ College Basketball ‘08.

So check out this multi-talented brother and his live band "Core Elements" (Joel Van Dijk on guitar, Ron Avant on keys, Bennie Rodgers on drums, Brian Boland on bass, Jamon Laws on tenor saxophone and DJ Inka One), who mix new school hip hop, east coast wisdom, and west coast love of life. His music transcends all cultures, and with a love for rhyming that’s deeply rooted in the essence of the genre, it’s going to be hard to stop his star from rising. “ Once they’ve heard my music or seen my live show, I want people to believe in the power of positive music and to know that real hip hop isn’t dead.” Look for E Reece & Core Elements’ highly anticipated full-length LP entitled “L.I.S.n 2 This Live.In.Studio.” (Elevated Mental Recordings/Foundation Media), out now! He’s E Reece and he’s not for the fake. All sucka MC’s beware!

I've been going to see E Reece's shows for the past two years and he never disappoints. His rhymes are from the heart, real, and necessary in a time of so much radio rap bullshit. Just copped the CD, it's dope-tastic, and that's my word.

In appreciation

Just wanted to say "thank you" for dropping some rhymes on your CD that make me think and bob my head at the same time. Intelligence is the key to powerful, meaningful, long lasting, successful hip hop music. Not only are your beats on point your words are crazy! These "rappers" out here today get play on the radio with some aight bootie popping beats but their lyrics are seriously lacking true talent. I appreciate your true talent, mind altering head nodding music.

To be perfectly honest i don't ordinarily listen to rap or hip hop,but i really enjoyed this CD. I think that's when you know an album is good...GREAT when you can bring people who normally don't listen and convert them (like myself) into TRUE hip hop fan. Thanks to this CD my musical world has opened up!
