If traditional country with a twinge of pop and rock is your thing Erica Brooke'
If traditional country with a twinge of pop and rock is your thing Erica Brooke's 'Heart Like Mine' is a good disc to add to your collection. 'What Love Looks Like' starts things off strong with an upbeat and catchy phrase. This is a song that can receive radio play. 'Heart Like Mine' slows things down but does not lose the catchiness of the first track. Erica is your traditional country singer, she has the power and voice to carry a strong country tune as well as the range to mellow out for a ballad.

'Satisfied' really brings out that country rhythm and twang Erica is capable of performing flawlessly. It is a true love song, the kind you don't find in a genre known for love gone wrong. 'Hole In My Head' returns to the more traditional with lyrics about the wrong man for the right woman. 'I need a boy like you like a hole in my head.' Erica shows her range reaching deep into her lungs for some of the high notes. The music remains traditional throughout the disc and Erica is ably backed by a strong roots band. 'Big Deal' is a great song about pining about love lost, but Erica adds a twist. she is over the whole thing and does not want to hear about it, making her feelings very well known.

'Cowboy's Sweetheart' is a bit tongue in cheek complete with yodeling about wanting to be with a cowboy. 'Jealous' comes close to crossing over to the rock genre. The guitar is strong and effective. 'Please Remember' slows things down with a piano driven ballad. It is a song of remembering love lost. This is my favorite song on the disc. She is not begging the lover to come back, only to remember the time they spent together. It is well written and does not come across as a sappy love song. 'Daddy's Girl' is an upbeat song about coming of age. The disc closes with 'But I Do Love You' another number where Erica slows things down a bit.

All in all if traditional country with intelligent lyrics and well written hooks is your thing you will enjoy 'Heart Like Mine.'
