I dedicate this album to my father, James W. Britt. He passed away in 2009 at age 80. He lived a full and adventurous life. He was one of a kind. The album art is an 1893 photo of his grandpa's (my great grandpa) cotton gin and sawmill in Stone Mountain Georgia. Really an interesting photo. The tile cut "Honest Man" is a song I wrote about him. He heard a rough version of the song before he passed and loved it.
The second track, "Doggie" is about my dog. I have had many dogs throughout my life and this song is mix of two of them. I love animals especially dogs and might even go as far to say that i wouldn't trust a man who didn't have one!
Third track "Beautiful" is definitely about the love of my life, my wife. Just as the song states "... she is everything that is beautiful to me".
Fourth track is a cover of a Tony Joe White/ Ricky Ray Rector song which Waylon Jennings did back in the early 90's, "Up in Arkansas". Even though the song fits me to a tee, i didn't write it! I wish I had.
I want to thank Tim Crouch and Rodger King (Mr. Dobro) for working with me on this project. They are both fine gentlemen and great musicians. Also thanks to Darien at Blue Chair studios.
UP IN ARKANSAS
