I was born and raised in Hollywood, CA and played in or worked with a lot of bands and artists. I now live in an alternate universe (Iowa) and find this life both tranquil and challenging. Tranquil is good for the family, the challenge is to avoid going crazy in a place where a big entrepreneurial effort is to build a Soil Tilth building or patent yet another soy bean. To address the latter I have built a high quality music creation environment at BumbleFunk Music and I work on a continuing basis with artists from virtually all genres as well as continue to produce my own material (which is also pretty diverse).
So.... Simple City is a compilation of what I consider to be “softer” songs from whatever part of the brain generates such stuff. I have tried to weave the songs together with vignettes and stories that relate to experiences a kid might have in a city like LA. The bottom line is that despite the apparent complexity of a big city the human element is really extremely simple, predictable and yet remains poignant and compelling.
I love music and the act of creation (I have several ongoing enterprises at all times, some actually doing interesting things, but all involving innovation and rule breakage).
