That is really cool, not at all what I expected. When I think of a guitar album, I think GUITARS! Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Moore. It's amazing to me how Eric captures the essence of the "place" in his songs. The guitar is not at the forefront, but layered into the sound to take you to wherever the place is for that song title. It's always about what's best for the composition. I heard that on his earlier albums as well but think this is the best example of that yet. Very cool ... I LOVE it!

Badlands needs to be heard
From the very first time I heard Eric Tingstad's new song Badlands, I have been blown away by how compelling this instrumental music is. And now after listening to it many, many times, it still reaches in and grabs my soul every single time. I am totally impressed with how Eric skillfully crafted this music by bringing in the best of other talented musicians to fill in his envisioned soundscape. We are ushered into the mystic realms of the Badlands by the sensuous beats of Byron Metcalf and the haunting dance of Cindy Cashdollar's steel guitar with Andrew Joslyn's violin. Eric waits for just the right moment to reveal the passion of the land via his electric guitar and my body cannot resist moving to this sensual groove.

Music that is this evocative is a rare gift and since discovering it I have been excited to share it. I have been ranting about its potential to be a big radio hit, but I have learned that the lawmen that are governing what gets played on the radio these days have outlawed instrumentals, without giving us law abiding listeners a chance to hear. So, let's leave radioland in the dust and help Eric make this outlaw instrumental a big hit by first discovering it yourself and then sharing it. Let's have a showdown with those radio lawmen and let them know you can't keep a good outlaw instrumental down.
