notes
If you are tired of stagnant radio stations and if you yearn for a change of pace... Check out this very special CD from Eric VINCENT...
"Faut-il encore 2000 ans?" (Will it take another 2000 years) presents Eric in a new light. He has adapted many familiar James TAYLOR signature pieces to his own brand of witty, socially introspective, and insightful lyrics. The listeners will hear the familiar music of one of America's songwriting legends, but this time, they will be transported to a new place, on a new journey with Eric VINCENT.
The CD underscores how good music knows no language barriers and non-French speakers can enjoy this infinitely listenable album with full relish of the musical joy it possesses.
This journey finally culminates in the beautifully serene, "Naissance d'une planete" (Birth of a planet), composed by his old friend and mentor Jean BOUCHETY*, where Eric gets to show off his classical training.
A true champion of the French tradition of song "Chanson Francaise", Eric VINCENT has traveled the world, performing in over 140 countries. His journey represents a life-long exploration of musical styles of the world.
Incorporating elements of native song from the Francophone tropics around the world (Caribbean, African, and SE Asia), He has fused these into a tour-de-force that still honors the rootsy folk traditions born in Paris in the 1960's.
*Jean BOUCHETY began his carrier playing bass with Stephane GRAPELLI and Django REINHARDT... Art SIMMONS, Don BYAS, Quincy JONES, Kenny CLARKE... and has been, as well, the bassist of Edith PIAF and Gilbert BECAUD. Then, in the 1960's, he became one of the most famous conductor in France and, until recently, has signed the arrangements of most of the big Hits in France.
The included jewel box liner notes contains all the lyrics.

author: blessird@tdin.comI love listening to this CD. Even though it is in French, the instrumentation and Eric's voice are a great combination. Also. as a student, a great CD to listen to while studying.
