A new album from one of Sweden’s most diverse musicians. Driven by curiosity, Erik Borelius explores himself as a singer and an instrumentalist, creating new musical possibilities and combining instruments with thematic diversity. The fruits of such curiosity are seen in the Grammy-winning instrumental album SexTioTvå which he released on his own label already in 1993, the first album with his own vocals, What is Success? and Movies on a String which was the world's first album recorded with the Swedish guitar invention True Temperament.
Now Erik Borelius is back with The World We Know. Melodic as always with depth in the arrangements - his intention is to create music that grows with each listening. Erik sings again and the lyrics tell stories about the modern man and his inability to let things take time in Make Time, of bullying in The Sisters, about the problem of knowing whether to say YES or NO and about Erik´s strong ties to the Stockholm Archipelago in This Island.
Of course, the guitar has a prominent role on The World We Know. On the title track it carries the bluesy riff throughout the song and on This Island two dozen full-bodied acoustic guitars create a shimmering presence. In Back to You, one can hear Erik's Latin-inspired virtuosity and on his version of the famous Swedish folk-song Värmlandsvisan he mixes soft tones from the nylon stringed guitar with the ever-distinctive electric guitar.
The beautiful album design was created by art director Johan Adelstål with stunning images from the Stockholm archipelago by photographer Petter Karlberg.
"When Johan presented his idea it felt perfect for the music. It´s a great piece of art to watch and enjoy while you listen to the album", Erik says.

Even though I LOVE the guitarexcilibrism...is that a word?? ....I must say that I like Erik´s voice. It is cool...make me think of David Bowie as well as Steely Dan... Beautiful lyrics and a very beautiful album, with wonderful pictures of the Stockholm archipelago... I guess. I can strongly recommend it! // anette
