Description
An excellent companion video is available for this track on Youtube!
Erik-Peter developed Crusade of the Battledragons as his final project for Orchestration I, part of several courses needed to complete his Master Certificate in Orchestration for Film and TV offered by Berklee College of Music's online extension.
He conceived this score either as a standalone work, or as a possible opening or closing credits for an action fantasy film. Using stock images and footage here, he has produced this music video as one possible realization that the score might provide.
There are three moods to the music that relate to the particular vision he had of a group of battledragons (possibly with riders) taking flight from a distant, exotic, and desolate part of a fantasy realm, perhaps an arid desert.
After traveling a while over the rugged and harsh landscape, the dragons eventually enter a lush and temperate region, filled with clear bodies of water in the midst of a very Celtic landscape with rolling hills and meadows on one side, and lush, mystical forests on the other. They eventually approach a chain of tall mountain ridges in the distance.
As the flight crosses over the tallest ridge, a mighty castle fortress can be seen towering above the peaks. As the sun begins to set, a great battle is clearly eminent, as hordes of evil forces, (legions of zombies and other undead led by sorcerers and dark dragons) begin to assault the surrounding town and push towards the castle defenders. However, various heros defending the fortress (knights, barbarians, dragon riders, centaur archers and sorcerer warriors) rise up to defend against the onslaught.
Although their struggle is great and defeat almost assured, the defenders cheer the arrival of their allies, the battledragons who have flown tirelessly from continents away to engage the evil hosts just in time and long into the night to turn the tide of victory in favor of the noble forces of good and righteousness!
