Some truly incredible tracks
author: Jens GB
Wooow... There's no other word for it. It just strikes, all at once, the tears impossible to hold back. Reminding me of how incredible music can be, how much emotion could be put into beautiful vocals, impressive lyrics and music that you just feel. "Survive" does all this for me, the chorus is so powerful that I do start to cry. A few tracks later on I reach "Distractions", with incredible words which I can really relate to with my life. Warming goose-bumps all over me, filling me with great satisfaction over having bought this album. And then, of course, comes "Hopeless". This track is very different from every other on "Release". It is without a doubt the darkest song of the album, but it has a strength to it that makes it the best song I've heard in a long time. All in all, there are some fantastic songs on this album. "To Sleep" is also one of my favourites, and even if the other songs aren't bad, they don't quite reach up to being awesome. No matter this is without any, any doubt an album you should go and buy right now. You do not want to miss the strong lyrics, soothing and warm vocals and the amazing feelings at least I get from listening to these favourite songs. Buy it, or you'll miss out, believe me!

The Lady Sings the Blues
author: Rick
Erin Miller's irresistable voice purrs, sighs, and lilts in a silken contralto and higher of poetic lyrics to an anonymous "you," giving her music the same kind of an enigmatic attraction found in Emily Dickinson's poetry. Her compositions are emotional portraits ranging from the depths of despair to the heights of ecstasy. Her music is acoustic-electric, jazzy folk-rock. "To Sleep" rolls with the rhythm and force of a freight train, "Run Away" leading on and on to an object of desire, "Release" arouses sophistication and electric sexy, "Survive" is an American country hymn with violin, "Cannot Fly" is resolve and independence, "Windsong" is piano and soaring vocals, "Believin' Love"--sexy, vibrant, and bebopping, "Yesterday" country ballad self-consciously, ironically blue, "Distractions" blue vocals dance with flute, "Hopeless" aria beyond blue, arabesques, and all the right grace notes, "Roam" acoustic rock, "Release Reprise" earthy folk reggae, "Solace" sends a violin hymn through centuries touching the lament singing deep in the soul of America. Her band included Mindy Jostyn, d., Cornelius Bumpus, d., and Christian Howes.
