Live and direct from NYC, "Ertal Dawg", masters of musical ventriloquism, serve up deep-fried elastic beats to crowds in this galaxy and the next. "Ertal Dawg", the band, pays tribute and spreads the word of the grand master ventriloquist, Mr. Ertal Dawg. Who is Ertal Dawg? We can't tell you right now. But we can tell you about the band, and what we do. "Ertal Dawg" spans a wide-range of Electonica sub-categories: Dub, Drum n' Bass, Instrumental Hip Hop, Trip Hop, and House. The glue between all of these is trained, live West African percussion. Amon uses samplers, turn tables and other electronics to create soundscapes and beats. The beats that are composed have a heavy West African influence, but are not always played on West African instruments. So, the beats tend to be funky and polyrhythmic. Amon gets his samples from old dingy dolla' bin records. Melodies are free and inspired by jazz and his counterpart, Mona. Her voice is that of a Persian siren as she bathes in the sun in the Caspian Sea, singing into the wind. At the flick of his razor-sharp tongue, Mr. Shaffer tells everyone exactly what we're trying to say. You want to know more about us? Check out our website. Word. www.ertaldawg.com

Fantastic!
author: Emily Beste
Ertal Dawg gets right down to business as they rip into their opening song, Fote Ba, which explodes with energy. Applying the most attractive elements of West African music infused with Hip-Hop, House and at times Mona's honey-like vocals....
Ertal Dawg doesn't have a weak moment and sure as hell doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

The must have CD of 2004!
author: John Loesch
This disc is phenomenal!! The way they blend musical styles is a testament to the quality of musicians in the group. It has been rockin’ my CD player constantly since I bought it and every friend I’ve shared it with has fallen in love with it too! Buy it! Heck, buy five and give them to your friends.

author: Tamara Turner, CD Baby
Bleeding together drum 'n bass, hip hop, down tempo, chilled out electronica and house music, curled around thumping West African beats, a jazzy tangent and a genre-busting mindframe, Ertal Dawg's music gives the sensory impression of a mosaic of seemingly unrelated emotions and colors and statements that somehow find a common thread to hang onto. Where all these styles and influences meet is a beautifully jumbled conglomerate or collage, something like the aural equivalent of a kaleidoscope. This is keen abstract music that disengages the logical mind and stirs the fingerpainter in all.

A smorgasbord of musical delight!
author: Sally Mullikin, England
This album is so completely bright and new. It stimulates the intellect with complex formations of sound. It soothes the soul with beautiful, intricate tunes and satisfies the bodily urge to get down with the powerful drumming tracks. And this middle-eastern dub bit? Definitely and absolutely very very sexy.
